wait可以是动词，也可以是名词。

当wait是动词时， 其一般为不及物动词，wait应遵循动词的语法规则。不同时态用不同的形式。wait的第三人称单数是 waits，现在分词是waiting，过去式是waited，过去分词是aited。wait是动词时，有以下三种含义：

1、wait的英文含义为“to stay where you are or delay doing sth until sb/sth comes or sth happens”，即“等，等待，等候”。

2、wait的英文含义为“to hope or watch for sth to happen, especially for a long time”，即“盼望，期待”。

当wait是名词时，其通常用于歌曲中，意思是“an act of waiting or an amount of time waited”，即“等待，等待的时间”。
